Day 50

I went to Hammocks Beach State Park to chase the Snowy Plover reported by Ed Corey. After searching over 3 miles of shoreline, and sorting through over 10 Piping Plovers, I finally found the bird associating with 2 Wilson's. Three new plovers for the year in the same day. Plus, interestingly enough, this was the exact same spot where I got my state Snowy Plover a few years back.

  1. Ali,

I've been following your blog since you started the year. Great job and good luck with it. Quick question. I am flying in from Seoul, South Korea, for the month and plan on doing a lot of birding while I'm there. I noticed that the ferry that normally runs to the park in this post is closed for the season. I'm just wondering how you got to it. Any help is appreciated.

  2. Hey! Yeah I guess I should have noted, I had a friend boat me over in his boat. I was very very lucky to get the bird this way. Let me know if you want to meet up at some point, I'd love to get out birding with you and maybe show you some new birds.

  3. That would be outstanding! I have a few places I'm interested in checking out, but would certainly defer to your local knowledge in finding the best place/s to go birding this time of year. E-mail me at rooster987@yahoo.com any time and let me know what would work best for you.
